Great Weekend, Thanks Jennifer!

I have had the best, most productive weekend yet! Let me start by saying that I have one of the greatest friends ever! I will explain why later in this post...

Jason has been out of town for work since Friday morning, so Friday night I went to see "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" with 3 of my friends. His dad watched the kids for me which was a win-win for both of us....he LOVES his grand kids and is there in a moments notice when you need him. I know, I'm lucky!

I was already real tired (I think my brain knows when it's Friday after work is over) and we saw it at 9:45. It was an ok movie. Definitely a renter. But there was one part in the movie that was little too slow for me for it being after 10:00 pm. I was still, it was dark, perfect scenario to fall asleep. Which I did. I woke up and then went back to sleep. I must have really been tired! I saw my friend, Leisha, look at me couple of times and laugh that I was sleeping. I slept during the part of present girlfriends, then woke up to see the future girlfriend part. Matthew McConaughey is easy on the eyes with his short hair cut and clean-shaven face, but not enough for this tired girl!

When I got home after midnight, my father-in-law was sound asleep and my kids were asleep in my bed. They looked so precious sleeping there. It is a big treat to sleep in my bed and watch TV. I carried them to their beds and then not long later I was dreaming sweet dreams.

Saturday morning we had Sammi's soccer game in the mid-morning. The whole time it looked like it was about to pour, but not a drop came down. All I could think about was what all I wanted to do when I got home: laundry, clean the house, etc. When the were eating lunch and I was vacuuming out my car, my friend Jennifer called to see what I was doing. I told her about my amazing plans (ha!) and she said her son Aidan (he is 4) wanted to play with Sammi and Josh. Long story short, she told me to bring the kids over for the rest of the day and stay the night so I can be alone. Can you believe that? What a great, thoughtful friend! Normally I have to be talked into something like that, but it didn't take long this time! I told her that it would be best to have Josh take a nap first so she didn't have to deal with a whiny, fussy kid the rest of the day. So after his nap, off we went! After I dropped them off, I ran some errands. The kind you want to do ALONE. It was great! I made a bunch of stops. Much faster with it just being me and not having to deal with getting two kids in and out of their car seats.

I brought home dinner for me and got laundry folded and ironed while I watched two movies. I even stripped all 4 of our car seats and washed them. Not ever a chance that we won't need to be in at least one of them for several hours for them to be washed and air dried. They look brand new now! I watched "My Best Friend's Wedding" with Dane Cook (love him!!) and then "Marley and Me". Yes, I cried. But not as much as I thought I would. I normally cry in sad movies. There were two parts in particular that I remember tearing up. Both because they personally happened to me. Don't worry, I won't tell you what it was so I won't give any of it away in case you haven't seen it. But if you haven't, definitely watch it!

Went to bed after midnight watching some movie on TV that I can't even remember, but the greatest part? I got to wake up when I wanted to! I woke up at 8:30, not exactly how late I wanted to sleep in, but it's amazing the difference in how you feel when YOU wake up on YOUR own. I laid in bed, watched TV, then got up and rented a carpet cleaner. I wanted to take full advantage of not having the kids here and our carpet has been in desperate need to be cleaned. My friend, Kristi, introduced me to the world of renting carpet cleaners. True, you have to do it yourself, but it is SO much cheaper! With the shampoo I bought, it only cost $45 to have it for 24 hours. Before I picked up my kids today, I was able to clean the carpet in my dining room, living room, hallway, and Sammi's room.

My kids had a great time at Aidan's house. Jennifer said that Josh got up real early (not surprising) and woke up Aidan and Sammi. So I picked them up around noon and Josh fell asleep in the car before we got home. Right now, Sammi is having quiet time with a movie, Josh is napping. It is great! Then we are going to see "Monsters Vs. Aliens" with Jennifer and Aidan tonight. They are so excited about it. I can't tell you how many times this weekend I have had to tell them that we will see it after Josh's nap today.

Don't I just have the greatest friend to take my kids for the night? It was so weird being in my own house ALONE. This morning was the strangest, getting to wake up on my own. It was just me and Lucy (my dog) in my bed all night. I loved it! I miss Jason, but it is soooo nice to stretch out in my bed.

This was a really long post! Sorry. It has been so productive this weekend, and it's now 1:30 on Sunday...still plenty of time to get more done and relax tonight.

I hope you all had just as great of a weekend! Thanks Jennifer, you are the best!!!
